Red Smoothie Detox Factor Review: Is Liz Swann Millers Program An Inca Secret or Misguided Myth?

Who doesn’t love smoothies? As a smoothie aficionado, I was excited when I read about a way to detoxify that incorporated smoothies. I figured the taste might not be the best, but I hadn’t tried a cleansing regimen for a few years, and thought, “What do I have to lose?”

Maybe a few pounds and some built-up toxins. I decided to try Liz Swann Miller’s Red Smoothie Detox Factor & 21 day meal plan in the hopes of getting a little slimmer and more energetic for summer swimsuit season. I wrote this review after reading her story, buying her book and trying out the Red Smoothie Detox Factor for myself.

I must admit, I didn’t initially have a lot of expectations for Liz’s Red Smoothie Detox Factor program. You see, I’ve tried detoxification rituals before, with limited results. Most left me experiencing hunger during the detox and not really getting the promised energy jolt when concluded.

I always lost a few pounds, but this was often due to the uncomfortable effects of the cleanse and these turned out to be just water. I do think the idea of cleansing the body of toxins is a good one, but I hadn’t really found the right detoxification formula for success.

What is the Red Smoothie Detox Factor?

Red Smoothie Detox Factor ReviewSimply stated, it is a body detoxifying method that doesn’t really seem to have all the unpleasant side effects of some others I’ve tried.

It is based on the idea that eating fewer refined carbohydrates and replacing them with foods that are more difficult to digest will cause lowered calorie intake.

These foods are naturally healthier, because aside from being less processed, they are also lower in sugar and contain good, natural fats. Inaccessible calories that are locked up in fat cells become more accessible to burn by the process.

The general focus of the plan includes:

  • Ingesting less chemical preservatives
  • eating more natural fatty acids that are only available through food, including Omega 3 and Omega 6, which are both required for optimal health
  • Decreasing the effects of starvation, which causes slower metabolism and eventually regain of lost weight
  • Ingesting easy-to-access foods that contain natural fiber, leading to better elimination and a feeling of fullness

Who is Liz Swann Miller and How Did She Come Up With the Plan?

I first heard about Liz Swann Miller while searching the web for information about detoxification. I was feeling like I needed to try a body cleanse again, but didn’t want to do the same old stuff I had already tried. I was hoping for something a little tastier, and maybe something that worked well enough to use on a regular basis.

When I found the Red Smoothie Detox Factor website, showing a 21-day meal plan, it seemed like a more moderate solution than the average detox; hopefully one that I could use over and over, if I needed to.

Red Smoothie Detox Factor Liz Swann MillerAs it turns out, Ms. Miller was a chubby college coed, when she decided to join a college-sponsored excursion to the ancient and fabled Inca city of Macchu Picchu. After enjoying the multitude of different drinks and edibles enjoyed by the Mexican culture, she realized she was feeling re-energized.

However, when she decided to make the trek up mighty Macchu Picchu, she was embarrassed by the amount of time and effort it took her to accomplish what others did in half the time.

The trip, the foods she discovered, and her improved medical profile, upon returning from her trip, led her to transform her diet and develop the Red Smoothie Detox Factor.

She is now a six-time, best-selling author and nutrition guru, who has dedicated her life to helping others, through her occupation as a naturopath. Practicing naturopathy for fifteen years, she has helped more than 200,000 people become more fit and healthy, by eating right.

Why Detox?

If you are diabetic, or experiencing obesity or low energy, you may already know why. If not, you probably have an idea of some of the cause and effect of these health problems:

  • Eating the wrong kind of foods
  • Not eating enough of the right kinds of food
  • Stress
  • Poor sleep habits

What the detox plan said really made sense to me, especially after I read about what it contained and how it worked. Natural vitamins, sugars, fats, amino acids and fiber all seemed like something I could live with.

Pros and Cons: What Was My Experience With Red Smoothie Detox Factor?

I liked the detox plan, although it was somewhat more complex than others I’ve tried. The reason for this, though, is because it is healthier and required more ingredients and preparation than most detoxification methods. I did need to do a bit of research and shopping in places that I was not entirely familiar with, but this was not really a drawback. It helped me take charge of my eating and learn more about some of the prescribed foods, with which I was unfamiliar.

However, I did find the recipes to be simple and needed no actual special preparation, other than the use of my old faithful blender. Although I am an omnivore, I did also notice that the program was easy to translate for those on a vegetarian, vegan, or gluten-free diet.

After reading what Ms. Miller ordinarily charges for her private nutritional consultations, I was also pleased with the price. I do recommend the plan to anyone who is serious about a real detoxification regimen. Although it does take some effort, I found the payoff to be worth my time. I did feel better and lost a few pounds, but my best takeaway is the knowledge I gained about natural, healthy nutrition.
